I’ve done this before, and it kinda stuck with me. So, it only makes sense that I keep on doing it until this yearly habit eventually gets unstuck.
Again, gotta keep a healthy tradition going on; and who knows, one year from now-me would probably enjoy looking back at this.
When I sat down thinking about the past year (2023) and the one before that (2021), it’s all pretty blur-ish to me. But, one thing for certain is that the overall theme that I was going for was — growth. All in all, it took me sometime to gather my thoughts and looked back at what the f*ck happened in this past year.
Anyway, here’s a quick round up of 2023.
January:
I start the year with the optimum of a Malaysian that stays in JB who is going to work in Singapore for the first time.
I have dim sum for my first breakfast of the year with a couple of buddies, and had dinner with folks I used to call “colleagues”.
February:
I started going for my first couple rounds of interviews.
March:
I resigned from my full-time role after a solid 2 year stint, and signed on to a new role that came with what I thought was a shiny new portfolio.
April:
I went on a long-awaited sushi date.
May:
I survived the Coldplay ticket wars.
June:
I turn 26 and went to see some paddy fields.
July:
I went up mountains again.
I started my first job with Amazon’s streaming division — Prime Video — and dove in head first in the OTT industry.
August:
I saw Bruno Major live.
September:
Too many to account for, and nothing too significant, apart from a few corporate red flags.
I saw Anton Seabra at a more than underwhelming choice of a music stage.
October:
I got into the most busiest month of the year, and (somehow) survived it.
I successfully pulled off my first movie premiere that saw functioning across teams within a marketing division. In other words, underpromised and over delivered.
Things still feel rather gloomy.
November:
I celebrated an anniversary and went to Bangkok.
I did what 14-year-old me would be proud of and saw Coldplay live in concert.
December:
Work became questionable. I stepped up multiple times, more than I thought I would have to and like to.
I start questioning my life decisions, I look to more things/opportunities in the new year.
Not being able to see fireworks (again) was kind of a bummer, but it is what it is. Fool me twice, shame on me.
